Bengt Olav Olsen and Shani Wilhelmina Aarek Kidd got married on July 1st 2009 at the University of Agder in Kristiansand, Norway. This website will function as a memory archive for the approximately 60 guests we had, as well as for the wedded couple themselves and any other interested.
About the wedding
Bengt Olav proposed to Shani on October 6th 2006, which is also Shani's birthday. The proposal was done at South Bank in Brisbane, Australia. The summer of 2009, nearly three years after, we took the next step and got married. The date July 1st was chosen because it was exeactly six and a half year since we first got together.
None of us had ever been to a wedding before this, and neither of us knew much about how wedding traditions. We didn't worry too much about this, we wanted to do things our own, and most certainly untraditional way. We wanted an unformal, simple outdoor wedding, open to anyone that wanted to come. The marriage ceremony was non-religious, led by an officiant from The Norwegian Humanist Association. Later on the same day we also had a quaker wedding ceremony.
